However, at its heart, the GAP program is all about the same principles you are: creating a finished animal in a way that is both humane and sustainable. As ranchers we already recognize that every animal we own is our baby in a way, and the better we take care of them and the happier they are, the better they’re going to perform. The GAP program was created to bridge the gap between producers and consumers – the consumers get peace of mind knowing that they can feel good about the way the product they’re enjoying came to their plate. The producer, in addition to the pride that comes from creating a product that he can feel good about offering and that consumers are excited to receive, becomes eligible for a price premium above and beyond what he would otherwise receive for his animals.
